Science Video Competition organized by the Committee for the Popularization of Science (CPS), Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).
Creatively communicate science through short videos using animation, documentaries, dramatic reconstructions, diagrams, simulations, demonstrations, or other engaging visual formats.

The SciVision Challenge 2026 invites students to demonstrate their ability to clearly and creatively communicate scientific concepts through engaging video presentations.
Participants are encouraged to use dynamic visual approaches, including animation, documentaries, dramatic reconstructions, diagrams, simulations, or demonstrations, rather than relying exclusively on direct presentations.
The organizers are committed to ensuring equal opportunity for all students across Sri Lanka, including those in rural and under-resourced areas. To support this goal, organizers provide video tutorials and guides on creating science videos using low-cost or readily available resources.
đ Eligibility Criteria
Participants must be between 13 and 18 years old as of August 25, 2026.
Junior: Under 15 years
Senior: 15â18 years
Participants must be between 19 and 26 years old as of August 25, 2026.
Participants must be enrolled in an undergraduate programme in a state or non-state university in Sri Lanka.
School entries must be certified by the School Principal. University entries must be certified by the Dean of the respective faculty.
Participants may enter individually or as a group with not more than 3 members.
Videos may be submitted in English, Sinhala, or Tamil. Evaluation will be language-neutral.
Immediate family members of CPS committee members are not eligible to participate.

Register
Complete the online application form through the official submission link.
Create Your Video
- Maximum duration: 2 minutes or under
- Formats may include animation, live-action, diagrams, simulations, demonstrations, documentaries, dramatic reconstructions, or other innovative styles
- Narration or presentation must be clearly delivered by the applicant and visibly included in the video
- The video upload date must fall within the specified competition submission period
Scientific Accuracy Review
After the first submission, content will be evaluated for scientific accuracy. Selected entries from the first round will be informed to re-upload their videos with the official SLAAS SciVision Challenge logo.
Use Licensed Materials
External materials used in the production of the video must be under a Creative Commons license, in the Public Domain, or otherwise properly licensed for use.

Clear and understandable communication of the scientific concept.
Innovative and engaging presentation methods.
High standards of video and audio quality.

Potential to inspire curiosity and interest in science.
đ Popular Vote Award
Selected videos from the evaluation panel review stage will also enter the public voting phase. This is an entirely separate recognition and does not influence the main SciVision Challenge Award.
Public voting will take place on the SLAAS Facebook Page from September 20 to October 9, 2026. The video with the highest number of likes and positive reactions will receive the Popular Vote Award, which is an independent certificate of recognition.

The SciVision Challenge is organized by the Committee for the Popularization of Science (CPS) of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS).
This initiative aims to inspire young minds to explore and communicate scientific concepts creatively. The costs associated with organizing the competition, including awards, promotional materials, and event logistics, will be covered through sponsorships.
