SciVision Challenge 2026
Science communication plays a vital role in inspiring curiosity and understanding among young minds. The SciVision Challenge 2026 encourages school students to creatively present scientific concepts through short videos using simple, low-cost methods. This initiative aims to promote equal opportunities for students across Sri Lanka and support the development of clear, engaging science communication skills among youth.
SDG Creative Poster Competition 2026
Organized by the SLAAS – Committee for the Popularization of Science (CPS), the SDG Creative Poster Competition 2026 invites school students in Grades 6–13 and students from universities and higher education institutes to create an A2 poster on the theme “Our Responsibility towards Achieving Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
Participants may choose one or more of the following goals: SDG 1 – No Poverty, SDG 2 – Zero Hunger, SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, SDG 13 – Climate Action, SDG 14 – Life Below Water, and SDG 15 – Life on Land.
Deadline: 31st July 2026 before 4.00 PM.
Posters and applications can be submitted to the nearest Open University Regional Centre or Study Centre, the Department of Finance, University of Kelaniya, or the SLAAS Office including by post.
SLAAS CPS Media Awards 2026 — Call for Applications
The Committee for the Popularization of Science (CPS) of the Sri Lanka Association for the Advancement of Science (SLAAS) is pleased to announce the call for applications for the Science Popularization Awards 2026.
These awards recognise individuals who have made outstanding contributions towards popularizing science and promoting public interest in science among the general public of Sri Lanka through print, electronic and digital media during the period from 1st May 2025 to 30th April 2026.
Eligibility Highlights
- Contributions in Sinhala, Tamil or English media will be considered.
- Applicants must not have been members of the SLAAS Council or SLAAS-CPS, or their immediate family members, during the application period.
- Only evidence relating to work completed during the eligible award year may be submitted.
- Previous SLAAS-CPS award recipients are not eligible to reapply for the same award within 10 years.
How to Apply
Applicants should submit a duly completed application form, a list of the work being claimed, supporting evidence or materials, and a covering letter specifying the language category. Applications should be addressed to the Hon. General Secretaries of SLAAS.
